Copper’s high thermal conductivity pulls heat away from the weld much faster than steel. Morningstar accounts for that behavior with suitable heat input, joint preparation and compatible filler material.
Thicker sections can require supplementary heating and a larger heat source. Deoxidized copper filler or a compatible composition helps produce a cleaner, less porous weld.
